Husky

Husky

The South Hills High School website has been getting a new look. Fitzgerald gave me the job to do the graphics and this is what I came up with. At first I was only supposed to redo the navigation. For that, I looked at different internet game sites and got my inspiration from www.guildwars.com. I made the navigation bar using the shape tools and styles of Macromedia Fireworks 8. There were a few problems getting it to work, but it eventually did. Once that was finally finished, Fitzgerald decided that he wanted to redo the site with a top and bottom border. My navigation had to go. He gave me some references to look at and my work began. Using Fireworks 8 again, I came up with a border design, but couldn’t figure out what image I could put at the bottom to keep the site together. I found a picture of a husky and used, but wasn’t completely satisfied.

Just recently Fitzgerald got a Wacom Pen Tablet for people who like to draw. I had only used a few times to get used to it, but when people came into the class, Fitz had me demonstrate how it worked. One of those times, I decided to draw the picture of the husky I had found, changing a few things. Fitzgerald liked the end result, so we put used the drawing for the bottom border. For this, I imported the drawing into the border image and created a mask to get rid of the white background in the drawing.Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Normally we had a husky head that is now used by several different schools at the top of our website. We have no clue where we got it from, but Fitzgerald thought it would be best to replace that too. So, I drew another husky. Using several pictures on the internet as reference, I drew this one laying down and placed him on the top border (in the same way as the first husky drawing).Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The original navigation bar I had made is still present underneath the words that serve for the links to different pages of the website. So, all the weeks I had spent on it were not completely wasted, but integrated into the new design.
